What’s the story?

The recent Pandemic has taught us many useful lessons! One notable among them is to help and be with each other to stay safe and fight together to overcome this pandemic situation. However, the truth is something that most of us are still following a mindset that sets a boundary between us. It can be either based on differences in caste, color, or disabilities!

But, the movie ‘The Peanut Butter Falcon’ is an excellent approach by its makers to remove such diverse thinking. It is impressive cum satisfying to see how relationships can be established between two humans with no condition!

It is a comedy-drama of 98 minutes based on Americans and released in March at SXSW and later in the US or theaters in August, previous year, i.e., 2019. This film’s music is composed by Jonathan Sadoff, Zachary Dawes, Gabe Witcher, and Noam Pikelny.

The lead star cast of this film has Job Bernthal, John Hawkes, and Zack Gottsagen. The list also includes Thomas Haden Church, Bruce Dern, Dakota Johnson, and Shia LaBeouf. You can also see two former wrestler’s glimpse roles, namely Mick Foley, and Jake the Snake or Jake Robers.

First of all, the credits of excellent writing and direction of the movie go to Michael Schwartz and Tyler Nilson. The story of the film is highlighting the bond between three people. Zack, who dreams of becoming a wrestler, runs away from the nursing home care to achieve it.

He has Down syndrome but wants to join The Salt Water Redneck, a wrestling school. This young boy met with his ally and coach, Tyler. They spend much time with each other by catching fish, finding god, drinking whiskey, elude capture, and wind along deltas.

Also, both try to convince a nursing home employee, Eleanor, who is kind and has a different background. The three friends later became friends of each other and a bond of love, honesty, and trust formed among them towards one another.

There is an interesting fact behind the existence of the story of the movie. It is that the directors had got the idea of this after when they have conversed with Zack Gottsagen. They met him at a camp organized for both non-disabled and disabled public.

Later, they came to know that he wants to become a movie star. So, directors have written a story by keeping him in mind to integrate his dreams and hopes. Luckily, they got the person to film the movie without any permits and charges.

Is it any good?

The movie has become a sleeper hit and gained many critical acclamations. By the way, it is also the top-grossing in the category of the independent film of 2019. The movie has a star rating of 7.6 from 10 on IMDb as per the average of more than fifty thousand votes.

On 30th July 2019, the movie has been awarded by Ruderman Family Foundation. It is because the makers have authentically represented the good depictions of disabled people.

No doubt, it is a heart-touching story blended with Adventure and Action. The best part of the movie is that It doesn’t highlight mercy to a person with disabilities but about what he actually thoughts. It also focuses on his aim, hopes, love, disappointment, self-discovery, and forgiveness.

Overall, it is among the must to watch feature movies. After all, it depicts the reality of what exactly a family needs to suffer when a child has Down syndrome. If you are soft-hearted, then your eyes will be filled with tears after the end, so try to arrange some tissues before that.


Whenever we see any specially gifted child or person, we usually feel sorry about him or her. However, after watching ‘The Peanut Butter Falcon,’ there are higher chances that many people’s thinking might be changed! So we need to move ahead and try to help without feeling pity about that particular person’s future.

It is a thoroughly entertaining feature movie that gives many messages for our society to improve our mindsets. The best part of the film is that it helps us understand that even a disabled person has the right to think and dream like a normal person!
